Morning, Beasts.
I am Richard, a coach and trainer at SalesBEAST, and I am a hands on guy by nature. Give me a toolbox, a stubborn boat engine, and a free afternoon and I am a happy man. So this holiday means something to me. Jayne and I are here with you every Monday, holidays included, and today I want to slow down for a minute.
Not just another Monday
Today is Labor Day. And for once, Beast Mode Monday is not about telling you to jump out of bed, attack the phone, chase the deal and outwork everyone in the room.
Today is about remembering why the work matters.
America was not built by spectators. It was built by people who showed up. Farmers. Factory workers. Teachers. Truck drivers. Carpenters. Electricians. Nurses. Engineers. Entrepreneurs. Salespeople. Small business owners. People of every background who rolled up their sleeves and built something that did not exist the day before.
They built the roads, the bridges, the cities, the businesses, and the opportunities so many of us walk through every day.
Two hundred and fifty years of builders
In 2026, as America marks 250 years since its founding, Labor Day feels like it should mean a little more than another barbecue or another long weekend.
Two hundred and fifty years of builders. Two hundred and fifty years of dreamers. Two hundred and fifty years of people staring at something difficult, uncertain, or seemingly impossible and saying, "Watch me."
That spirit is the original Beast Mode. Not working yourself into the ground. Not believing exhaustion is some kind of trophy. It is the willingness to work for something. To build something. To leave something better than what you inherited.
Work without purpose is just labor. Labor with purpose builds families, companies, communities and a nation.
Your Labor Day plan
Here is the map for today, my friend.
Thank someone who is working while you are off: the nurse on shift, the first responder, the restaurant crew, the driver moving freight.
Think of the tradesperson who built or fixed the place you live, and appreciate that work.
Take ten quiet minutes to look back at your own road: the early mornings, the doors slammed in your face, the comebacks.
Put the phone down for a few hours. Fire up the grill, raise the flag, and be with the people you care about.
Tonight, write down what you are actually working for. One sentence.
Tomorrow morning, get back after it: rested, grateful, hungry.
Know what you are working for
Jayne reminded me this week that rest is part of the work, not a break from it. She has a way of saying the wise thing quietly, and I have learned to listen.
So appreciate your own journey too. The deals that fell apart. The risks you took. The times you got knocked flat and still found a way to stand back up. That is labor too. That is America too. And that is worth celebrating.
The American story is not finished. Neither is yours.
Respect the work. Honor the worker. Celebrate the opportunity. And never forget: the beast is not only the one who works the hardest. The beast is the one who knows what the hell they are working for.
